We get the interesting Section 31 man back, discussing Georgiou’s symptoms with Culbert. We get a very interesting scene.
Kovich tells shows us a hologram of a Starfleet officer who not only travelled through time from 2379 (the year Nemesis happened), but also from the Kelvin universe. This is the first time we have ever got acknowledgement of the Kelvin universe on a Star Trek show and this is very interesting. It confirms, finally, that Discovery happens in the Prime universe, and is further proof that the films are canon to the show (although Picard referenced the supernova).
Interesting that Yor is wearing a uniform reminiscent of 2350s rather than the uniform worn 20 years later. If an individual crosses universes and also forward in time, the effects of both cause the illness Georgiou is now facing.
Georgiou is phasing (I assumed this was an effect of the holographic scan when we saw it last episode, not actually happening) and struggling to pick up her drink. Georgiou reacts poorly to Tilly’s attempt to help. Meanwhile Culbert discovers the Sphere Data is telling them of a planet where they can help Georgiou. Saru tells them they can’t help, as the Chain is planning military exercises, and so the fleet is on yellow alert. Despite this, Vance authorises it.
Georgiou tries to bait Burnham to kill her, but she talks her into coming to the planet with her. Discovery arrives at the planet. There’s an – unexpected – moment of sweetness as Saru and Georgiou say a respectful goodbye and she even seems to let Tilly hug her.

There’s a sense of … finality to it? |
Booker tries to pitch his usefulness to Starfleet. Saru counters that he needs to wait until he is needed, like they did (which is a nice reference back to what I had issues with Saru earlier in the season). Burnham and Georgiou talk out their relationship, when they come across … erm … this?
I mean my immediate thoughts are Q, but lets see where this leads as he holds out the paper about Georgiou’s death. They call themselves Carl, who tells door related humour, in regards to the door behind him. Neither them nor the door register on sensors. We get a cute little transition as everything on screen apart from the snow fades to black, and the snow turns to stars.
Tal has broke through the signal, and found it is from Kelpians. He gets Staments and Tal to work on accessing the ship’s sensors remotely as he watches the message again. Georgiou takes her chance and enters the doorway.
And into the Mirror Universe, on to ISS Discovery. She is there on the day Lorca and Burnham betrays her. She meets Mirror Burnham, where they catch up. She tries to change the past and manoeuvre Burnham into becoming loyal again, but it’s clear her time in the Prime Universe has dulled her. She intercedes in Saru being sent to be butchered, and makes him her personal slave. In her quarters, she asks him to tell her why Burnham is plotting against her. He tells her Burnham and Lorca think she is getting weak, so she promises to show her strength.
Staments narrate a theatrical performance of how Georgiou takes power (Anthony Rapp showing off his stage skills!). The Klingon costumes are interestingly very reminiscent of those we see in The Original Series, which is a nice touch. We see the ISS Charon from the rear of Discovery as Georgiou walks up. She murders Staments as he tries to sneak up on her to kill her (changing what happened originally, which must’ve resulted in Staments’ survival).
Georgiou confronts Burnham, demanding a confession for her life, which confirms for Burnham she is growing weak.

Can we talk about the acting here! Like the unstableness on show. |
Georgiou cuts Burnham’s throat slightly, but spares her and has her thrown into the agoniser as her crew consider her unsure.
This was an interesting episode that presented some things I did not expect. Georgiou changing history, going back to the Mirror Universe. The weird Guardian of the Door.
We also end on our first Season Two cliffhanger so now we have to wait until next week to see the resolution!
