Next Doctor ideas

Here are some of MY ideas of who could be the next Doctor. I say ideas, because I doubt any of these people might get the role, because they’re already well known, and Doctor Who usually casts unknowns.
  • Jason Flemyng
    • An exception to the ‘well known’ point above. His career has an impressive range, and he has been in a lot (Primeval and League of Incredible Gentleman are two which you probably know him from if you know him from), but he’s not yet a household name.
  • Alexander Siddig
    • Best known for playing Dr. Julian Bashir in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and has recently been in the last two serieses of Primeval. To me, Siddig is one of the best Star Trek actors, and episodes central around him are always fun to watch. They also interestingly seem to revolve around a morality plot (Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges being a good example) which means he would be excellent at playing the Doctor. However, he is somewhat too big to meet the ‘unknown’ criteria, and is, I believe, currently busy filming in America.
  • Johnny Lee Miller
    • I’ve fallen in love with Miller’s acting from Elementary (the acting of his and Aidan Quinn are one of the few good things of the show, and the main reason for most people to watch it), but naturally, due to his ‘big-ness’ and also because he’s filming Elementary, he wouldn’t be available for the role.
  • Hugh Laurie
    • I’m actually struggling to decide if Laurie would best fit the role of the Doctor, or of the Master. If they ever needed to reintroduce the Master in a one-off appearance Sir Derek Jacobi-style (they don’t, though), Laurie could do it. But that aside, Laurie is far too big now to play the role. He’s already a household name in Britain and in the States (from Blackadder and House).
  • Andrew-Lee Potts
    • Another Primeval actor here, Potts is a brilliant actor, who can play comedic, quirky, nerdy when needed, and dark, serious and emotional when needed. While the actors in Primeval were by no means bad, he by far outshines his cast mates. Despite this, he, like Flemyng, isn’t really a household name unless you watched Primeval (or Alice, where he played the Mad Hatter), so he could feasibly play the Doctor. It really depends on how much rivalry still remains between ITV’s Primeval and BBC’s Doctor Who, but considering that Primeval has seem to have gone the way of the dinosaurs (did you see what I did there? A pun, you know, coz Primeval‘s about dinosaurs and dinosaurs went extinct and- oh, nevermind) with no sign of renewal …

More coming as I think of them
